Fox Announces 8 Blu-Ray Titles for The PS3 launch

"Fox's stellar, action-packed line-up of initial BD releases includes: BEHIND ENEMY LINES, FANTASTIC FOUR, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (Director's Cut), KISS OF THE DRAGON, THE OMEN (666), THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, SPEED and THE TRANSPORTER. This first wave of BD titles will arrive at retail outlets worldwide in November. Japan launches November 10 and product hits North American (SRP US$39.98/CAN$49.98), Australian and European stores on November 14"

About worseless if you ask me. Watching a $40 dollar movie that I've seen before is just what I want to be doing after dropping $600+ on a video game console.

Besides, with Sony's track record with the Playstation 2s quality who would want to risk shorten the life span of their $600+ video game system by watching a movie they can get on DVD.

In-game Ads...

It's seems Electronic Arts has jumped on the in-game ad bandwagon by the help of IGA Worldwide and Massive, Inc. (owned by M$). What's even scarier is that they won't be static and feature dynamically served in-game ads. Which basically means that a publisher and update ads on the fly.

If you've already guessed it I'm not to keen on in-game ads...yet. If done correctly there I won't mind but if that means a 10 seconds load time is going to be pushed to 20 seconds so I can view an ad I won't be happy. Well the first two games that are going to be featuring these in-game ads are Battlefield 2142 & Need for Speed Carbon by EA.

It will be interesting on how these pan out. I can see it now; in-game spamming has emerged!

Nintendo - secretive, Sony - cocky, & Microsoft - trying to hard

Let's take a look at Nintendo really quick. Nintendo seems to be doing just about everything right with the Wii. From the new Wiimote to the 3rd party developers it seems nothing can stop them this fall.

However, the one thing that has me stomping my feet, like the spoiled little gamer I am, is Nintendo's sadistic way for holding back information. Granted, Nintendo's way of slowly leaking the info out to us gamers has seemed to work by keeping the buzz in the air but dangit man just give me a price and release date!

As for Sony...they are getting to cocky. Every time I turn around some arrogant comment is flying out of someone’s mouth from Sony. Even though the Playstation 3 is going to be a beast for a video game console Sony is proving that they can smash the Sony Playstation brand with ease and all Nintendo & Microsoft has to do is sit back and watch Sony do it for them.

Sony's first mistake is trying to push blu-ray off on gamers. The second mistake is the "cell" & the third mistake is the rushed redesign of a controller that they've had since day one to try and steal some of the Wiimote's thunder. Sure the PS3 with sell out at launch but I foresee it falling to the wayside very fast to a similar death that the Dreamcast saw.

Ahh...lets see. Microsoft. I feel kind of sorry for Microsoft and all the crap they've received for the defective Xbox 360s. I thought everyone would have been used to systems breaking down after the PS2. Speaking of which, how many PS2s have you owned?

Also, Microsoft is trying so hard in Japan with no prevail. All I have to say is cut your losses and pull out of Japan. Once the Wii launches, Xbox will be no more in Japan.

I see it like this. Nintendo will be on top with the Wii followed by Microsoft with the 360 leaving Sony doing somewhere in-between the Dreamcast and GameCube with the Playstation 3.

Sure I might eat my words later on but the holiday season of '07 will tell who's going to pull ahead. So Sony fanboys it's time to jump ship and realize that the PS2 is the weaker system compared to the GameCube & Xbox. The "emotion" ship is dead and Sony is sinking it.

What to expect?

Welcome to those that have the misfortune of stumbling upon my ranting. What you will find here is my attempt to vent my frustration and disagreements with in the gaming industry and don’t worry not all of it will be negative…I think.

Let’s see. To start, what in the world is going through Sony’s mind right now. I’m sorry Sony fanboys & girls but they have lost it with the PS3. Don’t get me wrong it will have some great games but they need to stop trying to push this “It’s not a video game console.” It didn’t work with the PS2 and it won’t work with the PS3.

Also, drop the Blu-ray player crap. It isn’t needed in a video game console especially when it isn’t helping the price tag any - $600, ouch! The $500 one is about worseless along with their marketing pitch about it supporting 1080p. How many people have a HDTV that supports 1080p? Yeah thought so & don’t try to give me any crap about in X amount of years either because chances are at $600 the PS3 is going the 3DO way very fast.

Well that’s it for now and trust me when I say there’s going to be more worseless thoughts on the way.
